In the years following the Calamity, much of humanity's remnants have split into several factions, each with very different goals. The three largest factions include Laevateinn, led by the vampire Alyzanae, the mercenary group of assassins, merchants, and rogues all bound by the collective pursuit of riches, the Sentinels, those who have chosen to follow Lord Kelaran in His pursuit to turn back the clock to the glory days before The Calamity, and The Chosen, the devout followers of Lord Nivicus, who seek the Promised Land through whatever means it may require.
There are many people who have attempted to form their own factions amidst the chaos, but none have lasted long with the pressure put on by these three leading groups. It is highly advised that newly awakened mortals take up arms with their faction of choice.
