Sanctuary, home of The Chosen.

The Chosen (stylised in-game as TheChosen) are a faction who act as the representatives and loyal followers of Lord Nivicus. Led by Lord Nivicus himself, they work to create His Promised Lands.

During the battle for the Artefact, many of The Chosen were seemingly cast out of the faction, leaving only Lord Nivicus himself, the Scholars of Nivicus and some rank and file Templars of Nivicus.

Faction History[]

Little has been openly stated about the history of The Chosen, however it is common knowledge that this history dates back to at least the early Old Kingdom Lineage.

It is, however, common knowledge that throughout its continued existance, three primary bodies have made up the bulk of The Chosen: The Templars of Nivicus , the Church of Nivicus and the Scholars of Nivicus. In recent years, a guild of artisans, led by Tarquin Geld have joined the rank of The Chosen, and now make up a new body, the Artisans of Nivicus .

During the Kingdom Lineage, The Chosen primarily operated out of the city of Skyedale, although there are some reports suggesting that they had claims to land on both Amaranth and Marast, and given the nature of Lord Nivicus and many of His Chosen, this would be entirely possible.

The Gift[]

(See The Gift for more information)

Lord Nivicus is, perhaps, most infamous for his bestowing of what he refers to as "The Gift". Manipulating the very blood and Aether of a living individual, and morphing it into an exact, miniscule replica of his own, it grants the bearer (or victim) unrivaled strength, vigor and athleticism, amongst other benefits.

However, as a side-effect of having foreign Aether within the body, the Gifted are forced to introduce fresh blood into their body on regular occasion. It is due to this act that they have been labelled by many as "unholy" or "abominations" when, in fact, the act of "feeding" is nothing more than a emergency blood transfusion.

Sanctuary[]

(See Sanctuary for more information)

Following The Awakening, Lord Nivicus (under the guise of Shieldheart acting as High Priest of the Church of Nivicus) had prepared a new place of residence for His Chosen. This place, known as Sanctuary, was built in a desert a fair distance from Boonville. The town featured many points of interest, including Guild Halls for the Templars and Artisans (and a seperate engineering workshop) and a chapel in which the Church may conduct their business.

Also present was a large Mage Tower, in which Lord Nivicus taught those worthy of learning in the ways of Aether Manipuation.

Sanctuary was then destroyed by Lord Nivicus' own hands during the battle for the Artefact.

New Skyedale[]

Following the ransacking of Sanctuary, Lord Nivicus ordered the Scholars of Nivicus to construct a new, coastal town. This town would later come to be known as New Skyedale.

Featuring as its prominent building the Lighthouse of Reflection, New Skyedale acts primarily as a hub for the Scholars of Nivicus and the Templars of Nivicus to dicuss important matters, away from the eyes and ears of the old Chosen.

Little else is known about this kocation.

The Fleet[]

Despite being a self-declared faction of Scholars, Merchants and Artisans (keeping the Templars only for self-protection) one of the most notable features concerning The Chosen is their fleet.

The Holy Fleet, consisting of at least three airships and a single water-based vessel is one of, if not the largest fleet in Amaranthine since The Calamity.

However, it is worth noting that of those ships known about, only one has any true military capabilities. The ships are as follows.

Known Airships

NHF1001 "Javert" - The former flagship of Vincent von Boon, given as a gift by the Scholars of Nivicus upon his defection from Lord Sekheimos to The Chosen.

NHF3002 "Valjean" - A large, diplomatic vessel that is, in essence, a flying hotel. Featuring a vivarium, restaurant, vast numbers of cabins, and other such luxuries, the Valjean is the perfect vessel for a Chosen diplomat or ambassador to travel in.

NHF4-203 "Cosette" - The newest, sleeking, and importantly most manouverable vessel in The Holy Fleet, the Cosette is capable of travel in both water and air, allowing for a near-silent approach to potential targets. Most notable for being the only airbourne vessel in the fleet that is armed.

Known Ships

NHF1210 "SS Eliza" - The only primarily sea-faring vessel in the fleet, the SS Eliza had formerly been placed under the Captaincy of vonCreeper, the Grandmaster of the Templars.
